Desenzano del Garda is the most populous town among all those bordering Lake Garda; in addition, it is the second most populated town in the province of Brescia in Lombardy. It has an artistic, historical and archaeological heritage that has its roots in Roman times. It is a lively and active town in all seasons; the main internal street, which runs parallel to the lakeside promenade and crosses the main squares, offers a wide and varied presence of restaurants, shops and bars. The town also offers the possibility of practising numerous sports both in the town and in the neighbouring villages: there are riding stables and basketball, golf and tennis courts, and a public swimming pool. It is a tourist destination for everyone. The town can be reached by train and there are numerous connections with the cities of Brescia, Verona, Milan and Venice thanks to Trenord, ItaloTreno and Trenitalia trains.
