Regarding the place name Desenzano. There are two hypotheses about the origin of the name of this town: the first is that it derives from a Latin word indicating a person’s name, Decentius, a rich man, owner of a prestigious villa built in the 4th century that can still be visited and is known as the Villa Romana; the second has a more popular origin: since the municipality is situated on gentle slopes, the name seems to be related to the word descent. Desenzano del Garda, a famous and enchanting locality on Lake Garda, is today a popular tourist destination. It has an artistic, historical, and archaeological heritage that has its roots in Roman times.
